Advanced Goal Achievement - Visualization

I said Step 7 was the really important bit. Let me explain why. The effectiveness of goals are greatly enhanced with visualization. Some publications from the field of sports psychology suggest that elite athletes are spending as much as 30% of their time on mental work and visualizations. A visualization not only involves the image you see but it becomes more powerful as the other senses are introduced. This is especially true if your dominant representation system (the way we represent the outside world internally) is something other than visual. Your goal is more powerful and effective when you visualize and visualize using all your senses. So your visualization will include what you hear, what you feel and your own self talk.

Adjusting sub modalitiesIn the one on one situation we increase the power of visualization by adjusting submodalities. Submodalities are such things as the size of your picture, its location, is it colour or black and white, is it still or moving.

As we adjust these submodalities you may find that at times you feel more positive, more confident and more committed to your goal. When this happens we have identified what is referred to as a driver. Drivers are things that increase your drive towards your goal.
